It's natural to be confused today about hemp and the different terminology whether it be hemp seed oil, CBD or marijuana.

Let's clear up the confusion.

Before diving in, a key component of this conversation is a crucial vocabulary word you'll see when researching hemp: phytocannabinoid. Phytocannabinoids are the primary chemical compounds produced by the cannabis plant. The two most well known phytocannabinoids are THC and CBD.

Are Hemp and Marijuana the same because they come from the same plant? No

Is CBD legal in New York State? Yes

Is CBD legal in all 50 states? Yes

Are the plant chemicals identical in marijuana and hemp? No.

But what exactly are phyto-cannabinoids? THC and CBD are both phyto-cannabinoids but THC is psychotropic and CBD is not psychotropic. CBD contains less than 0.3 % THC and it is impossible to get any high off of it.

Will CBD show up on a drug test? No
